General Conference and LDS Addiction Recovery Program

Didn't you just love General Conference today and yesterday?  It never fails that the messages that the leaders of our Church prepare for us are just what are needed.  I was really excited because a lot of the talks included messages about dealing with Addictions.  As you know by now, my husband and I have just completed our missionary service in the LDS Addiction Recovery Program.  We served as mission group leaders for Addiction Recovery meetings in the Sandy, Utah area, as well as the Utah County area.  We  lead meetings in both Spanish and English, and concluded the last part of our second mission working exclusively with the Pornography group, my husband with the addicts and I worked in spousal and family support.  It was a marvelous experience, but I am so glad that the leaders are saying so much about Addictions of all kinds, because there is such a problem, and it is a huge curse in these days.

If you or a loved one suffers from the devastating effect of any kind of addiction, including Pornography, please seek help now!

Contact either LDS Family Services, or you can go to lds.org and under the home and family tab, then under Marriage , family and individual Counseling, you will see "Addiction Recovery Program". http://www.providentliving.org/content/display/0,11666,6629-1-3414-1,00.html   Click on it and you will be able to see the program guide in many languages, and find a support group to begin attending and the time and place http://www.providentliving.org/content/list/0,11664,4177-1,00.html or an LDS Family services agency near you.  http://www.providentliving.org/ses/emotionalhealth/contact/1,12169,2128-1,00.html

  1. This is truly an inspired program. It is wonderful that our church recognizes the many members who are in need of help. We have attended many meetings with our son, and the Spirit is so powerful. My husband & I look forward to one-day serving in this mission. Thank you for your service. Kathy Tanner

  3. Hello, my name is Jason and I volunteer for SA Lifeline Foundation, a not for profit company located in Lehi, UT. You can find us online at salifeline.org. We work everyday to spread the word about Pornography / Sexual Addiction. We have found great success and joy in helping others overcome their addiction. In the process of setting up the foundation we became acquainted with Donald L. Hilton Jr., MD. Don is a top neurosurgeon from San Antonio, Texas. He has written a book entitled “He Restoreth my Soul”. It is an amazing book that details the problem, and provides hope for recovery. The angle Don takes is unique because of his medical background. To date we have sold 17,000 books most of which have gone to Bishops, Stake Presidents, and ARP Missionaries. The book is currently available at all LDS retailers.

The reason I am contacting you, is because we need your help. We are currently reaching out to blogs and websites like yours asking that you provide some kind of information to your readers about the book, and / or our foundation. If it would help I can put you in touch with our founders Steven and Rhyll Croshaw. They can explain more about their efforts, and the efforts of the foundation. Steven and Rhyll were recently featured on the “Out in the light” documentary that was shown immediately following the last conference session. Please let me know if you have any interest in helping us continue to reach out to those that struggle with Pornography / Sexual addiction.
